Have you ever made a promise that you found really difficult to keep? Maybe you told God that you would do something, and then didn’t follow through…
I love that today’s focus of prayer can lead to us fulfilling our vows.

With God’s help
When we start spending time with God in prayer, He transforms us into people who are faithful. We become more like Him because He is faithful. We become trustworthy, like God is worthy of our trust.
Make a decision
Do you ever have trouble making decisions? And not just the “where are we going to eat after church?” question. Everybody has trouble with that one.
But maybe other decisions are hard. The Creator of the Universe has mastered decision-making. The more time we spend with Him, the better we will become at it too.
A Look at the Whole Picture
When you look at the verses before and after verse 27, you get a really cool picture of prayer.
For then you will delight yourself in the Almighty
and lift up your face to God.
You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you,
and you will pay your vows.
You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways. Job 22:26-28
Prayer is not just asking for things
We delight ourselves in the Lord. We find our joy in God and lift our faces to Him to build a relationship with Him face to face.
Prayer is not just asking for things, it is spending time in God’s presence. Finding joy in just spending time with Him, sharing our emotions with the One who created them in the beginning.
He hears us
When we talk with Him, He hears us. He responds to us. If we are having a hard time making decisions about something, we can gain clarity in His presence.
His light shines on us
God shines a light on us. We are illuminated in His presence and we can see the path more clearly.
He hears me. I will pay my vows.

Our Focus today is PRAYER!
Prayer: communicating with God, a back and forth (talking AND listening)
Set aside a few minutes today and lift your face to God. Enjoy His presence and let His light shine on you.
Talk to Him about the decisions you have to make. Discuss any emotions you are feeling. Share yourself with God and He will share Himself with You.
Prayer:
Dear God, Shine Your face on us today. Help us to find joy in Your presence. Make us more faithful like You are faithful. Help us to pay our vows and make decisions. In Jesus, name, amen.
