A Fresh Start – HOPE Challenge Day 6
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.” Lamentations 3:22-26
I love that this passage of scripture says the Lord’s compassions are new every morning. Too often, I get trapped in thinking of the past, failures and foibles. It is fresh every morning. Because God is faithful to be there with me every morning.
If I will keep putting my hope in Him, He is faithful to show up every morning with new mercies. He will be my portion and sustain me each day.
Actively Place My Hopes in God
When I feel like I am spinning in chaos and can’t jump off the merry-go-round, the Bible says “it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” To quiet my soul even while I actively place my hopes in God.
Each morning, I can seek Him and put my trust in Him again. His great love can envelope me so I am not consumed by the troubles in my world. He is good to me because I hope in Him. And, I hope in Him because He is good to me. It is beautiful, daily cycle.
HOPE Challenge Day 6 Action Step:
Imagine one of the those desktop, daily calendars where you tear off the day before to reveal the current date. Picture yourself tearing off yesterday for a fresh chance at life today. Toss away the failures of the past to embrace His mercies that are new this morning. Let hope rise in you because of God’s unfailing love and goodness that is focused on you.

HOPE Challenge Day 6 Prayer:
Dear God, Thank you for new mercies every morning! Help me not to get trapped in the problems of the past, but to seek you anew each day. Enable me to put my hope and trust in You today! In Jesus’ name, amen.
