Hope When It Is Hopeless – HOPE Challenge Day 9
“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” “ Romans 4:18-22
“Against all hope…” In the natural, it looked impossible for God’s promise to come true in Abraham’s life. He was super old and so was his wife. They didn’t have children. How in world could he become the father of many nations?
But God.
Abraham made a decision. He chose to hope even when his circumstances seemed hopeless. In the face of impossible odds. He decided to believe.
There are some dreams that I feel God has placed in my life that seem impossible. How about you? Do you have a dream or hope that seems hopeless?
Follow in Abraham’s Footsteps
We can follow in Abraham’s footsteps and choose to hope anyway. When, in the face of impossible odds, we believe what God says anyway, He comes through and does the supernatural.
And, Abraham’s belief was “credited to him as righteousness.” Our belief in what Jesus did for us is the step we take to be made righteous by God’s grace. When we place our trust in the Words of God, our hope is in the most secure place it can be. Even when it seems impossible and outlandish.
Fully Persuaded
We can decide to be fully persuaded that God will do what He promised. We may have to talk ourselves back in to line with God’s Word when we doubt, but the more we speak out, act on, and remind our minds and hearts of what God’s Word says, the more we will put our trust and hope in it. Then, supernatural transformation occurs in our lives, like it did in Abraham’s.
HOPE Challenge Day 9 Action Step:
Is there an area of your life where secretly you have been thinking: “That’s impossible. Even God couldn’t do that?” In the back of our minds, most of us have to admit that there is some area where we are tempted to doubt. Let’s take that area to God today and stir up our faith, making a choice to hope in Him.
HOPE Challenge Day 9 Prayer:
Dear God, You are infinitely powerful. I believe You will do what You have said You would. Pull me back when I start to doubt Your words and help me to place all my hope in You. Nothing is impossible with You. You are powerful enough to transform this hopeless situation. I choose to believe in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
