Christmas is a time to BELIEVE (Word Art)
If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Christmas is a Time to Believe – Romans 10:9
Do you like old Christmas movies? My favorite is White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. What is you favorite?
What is your favorite Christmas movie?
There are so many to choose from…It’s a Wonderful Life, Holiday Inn, Christmas in Connecticut, Miracle on 34th Street all the way to more recent beloved films like Elf, A Christmas Story, and Polar Express. One thing most have in common is that belief in Santa Claus is what pulls everyone together and saves Christmas.
A Time for Belief
Belief saves the day. Christmas always feels like a time for belief. But if we leave the world of fiction, we realize that it really does matter what we believe in. We can’t base our lives on belief in the Elf on the Shelf, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, or Santa Claus.
However, the true meaning of the Christmas season is Jesus. And He is the only part of Christmas that deserves our belief.
For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness. Romans 4:3
Justified with God
Righteousness – literally being justified with God – starts with belief. When we believe in what Jesus did for us and confess that He is Lord, we are made right with God. Though we are sinful, we are restored to right relationship with Father God.
Everything becomes possible
Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’? Everything is possible for the one who believes.” Mark 9:23
Healing, deliverance, forgiveness, heaven itself becomes possible when we believe. Not just believe, but believe in Jesus.
Christmas is a time to believe
Christmas is a time to believe with all our hearts in the true meaning of Christmas – JESUS! That He came to earth, fully God and fully man – God with us. He lived here, living a righteous and perfect life, so that He could pay the price for our sins on the cross. Then, He conquered death and rose from the grave so that we can have life everlasting in heaven with God.
Action Step:
Choose today to believe what the Bible says. That Jesus died for your sins. That you are not too far out of reach for God.
If you are having trouble believing, pray the prayer of a man in the Bible:
Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:24
Sometimes we need God’s help to fully believe — Christmas is a great time to ask God to help our belief in Him to expand to its fullest.
Prayer:
Dear God, help us to truly believe in Your Son. Open the eyes of our hearts to truly believe Your Word. This Christmas, help us to believe more and embrace You with our whole hearts. In Jesus’ name, amen.
