Take Christmas with You (Truck)
Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name;
proclaim his deeds among the peoples.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell about all his wondrous works! Psalm 105:1-2
Take Christmas With You – Psalm 105:1-2
One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is singing Christmas carols! I love them! Joy to the World, Silent Night, Away in a Manger, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Angels from the Realms of Glory…too many to mention!
When I read Psalm 105, the words about singing to him and telling about his wondrous works really jumps out at me! We are to proclaim his deeds among the peoples. That doesn’t just mean to go to Africa as a missionary (although that would be a wonderful thing to do!). It means that wherever God has me, I should give thanks, tell others, and sing praise.
The Good News
The good news of the arrival of Jesus on earth is not just for Christmastime. It starts here.
See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel, which is translated “God is with us.” Matthew 1:23
Immanuel
Immanuel. God with us. With us when we go to the store. With us when we are at work. With us at school. With us at church. With us when we are at the family dinner with annoying relatives. With us when we are at home and when we are far from home.
God’s Temple
God with us. In Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth, he tells us something even more amazing:
Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s temple and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16
Never Alone
The Spirit of the Living God, the Creator of the universe, dwells in us because of what Christ did here on earth. That is the good news! We can be restored to right relationship with the Father. His Spirit inside wherever we go. Never alone. Never abandoned.
Action Step:
This Christmas and beyond, let’s remember that we are carriers of the good news! Let’s take the true meaning of Christmas – God with us – everywhere we go and to everyone we meet!
Tell someone today the good news of Jesus so they can have a merry Christmas and be blessed all year long.
Prayer:
Dear God, make it real to us today that You are with us! Your Spirit is in us wherever we go. Open our mouths to share the good news. Open our eyes to see the needs of others. Give us the tools we need to bring help to the hurting this season. In Jesus’ name, amen.
